Hello! My name is Alex Moon and I'm a graduate student studying combinatorial algebraic geometry at Dartmouth College. I completed my undergrad at UW - Madison in May 2022 and my master's degree at UW - Milwaukee in December 2024, working primarily with Pamela E. Harris during my master's (full list of collaborators can be found on my publications page). In 2025, I was awarded the UW - Milwaukee Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship.

My research centers on algebraic combinatorics, particularly on parking functions and Kohnert posets. I like to start from the combinatorics side and build algebraic approaches from there. In doing so, I look for natural generalizations and unexpected connections. To make this easier, I'm always looking for opportunities to broaden my background - currently by learning about representation theory and algebraic geometry. A detailed breakdown of my research can be found on my publications page.
My office is Kemeny Hall room 222. Feel free to reach out via email at alexander * j * moon * gr (at) dartmouth.edu. For non-math business, use alexander * moon144 (at) gmail.com. Keep an eye out for me at conferences and summer schools!Â
In January 2025, you could find me presenting with Beth Anne Castellano at the 2025 JMM.
